My Very First New York Fashion Week!

Hello everyone!

I just came back from New York!!!.  So obviously I needed to share with you my experience and everything I learned about New York Fashion Week!

Started on the 5th (the official kick off was the 6th through the 13). I was told that there is no way you could survive the whole 8 days.  I planned 4 nights and believe me that was more than enough!
First its a very high paced rush type of days. You are running from one show to the next. Many times you don’t even have time to have lunch or dinner!. So if you are planning to go sometime I recommend packing some protein bars, some snacks and of course water and whatever you need to have during your long and tiring day.

Here is a synopsis of what my days looked like:

We landed on Wednesday at 4:30 pm (I had to cancel a show that started at 6 because I was afraid I would be late). Someone pointed out that you CAN’T miss any show you rsvp.  That makes the PR person that invited you look bad, so if you want to establish a good relationship with the PR agents.

ARRIVAL

Arriving at the hotel I took a shower and got ready to go to a Launch event for some app we were invited. By the way I went with a blogger friend so most of the time we did things together) It was a network mingle type of party, some drinks and snacks and they had a beauty section where they could style your hair or do your make up if you wanted. After they talked a little about their company and what they will offer. We stayed there about 2 hours and called it a night as we both were super tired.

THURSDAY

Woke up fairly early shower and got ready to head out, I didn’t have shows during the morning so I decided to walk a little bit around Soho, first we had breakfast and then my friend left for a show and I walked for over 2 hours.

Did I mention that this was a super HOT DAY? because it was and I was melting, so went to the room and showered again and got ready for my very first Show.

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION

We stayed on Tribeca which was 1 block away from Spring Studios (where most of the “OFFICIAL” shows are). I walked to Spring Studio and this is the most incredible feeling.. there are many photographers and they are all shooting you and sometimes they will ask you to move a certain way so they can capture an amazing shot.

Another thing that I like seeing is all the incredible outfits people are wearing you see everything from the most simple look to many extravagant, elegant, fashion! then I entered the room and they assign seats and you wait until the show starts. Another thing they don’t tell you is that MOST of the shows will not start on time. This is important because a Newby like me had a show right after this one on a completely different place and you had to rush over there Praying that you will arrive on time so they can let you in.

THE SHOWS

Inside the show you see many important, famous people, bloggers, influencers, fashion icons, celebrities its amazing!

On the runway you also see a variety of styles some designers will go for very usable every day clothes and some they will showcase some incredible outfits that I don’t know anyone that would ware them out on the street.
After that show I rushed on an uber to the next location which was called INDUSTRIA (another well knowned establishment for runways) attended my second show and then went back to the hotel to meet my roomie and we were invited to a YSL BEAUTY HOTEL launch party.

We got all glamed up and left for the party.  Arriving there were lots of people there trying to get in. Only the ones on the lists could enter. When we are about to arrive on the top of the line, a big guy came and told everyone that they were at capacity and wouldn’t allow anyone in!. (We were told to wait and as people came out we could go in). We stayed there and it was incredible to see the “V.I.P’S ” went straight in.  A women came out every about 5 minutes and looked through the people to receive the VIP’S.  So we waited patiently until finally they allowed us to go in.

THE OFFICIAL FASHION WEEK PARTIES

In the main floor there was stage like a very dark chic hotel with the reception. A cool golden chair and the luggage cart and some stairs  welcomed you. On the next level which was a big pool with a huge runway  right in the middle of the pool. You actually could walked the runway and there were photographers and videographers recoding you. VERY COOL!

And then again to another floor where Kravitz was signing and there was an open bar. A huge table full of the BLACK OPIUM YSL perfumes as decoration. On the back of the room there was another prop photo shoot with a bed (like a hotel room) and photographers taking pictures and then they sent them via text or email. Up to the last floor where was another bar and some stands with all the make up YSL has and 2 chairs where some beauticians could do your make up and a garden terrace. We looked around and then we head home to rest.

FRIDAY

We had a photo shoot and decided the best place was Soho because it was walking distance and we had 3 outfits each, it took us the whole morning on that and then ran to the hotel and changed to an afternoon full of shows.

After the Fashion week shows we went to the 5th avenue and walked all the way to Times Square.

SATURDAY

Woke up got ready head to a Starbucks and off to our first morning Fashion Week show.

I went to the Custo Barcelona  (on Pier 59) met the most amazing blogger there.  Walked to Jasmin that was on Industria,

then back again to Pier 59 for the Australian Palette.

Head back to the hotel for a quick change and went to the Style Coalition Lounge a very cool place where they had tequila drink      s by Avion Tequila, a candy bar, some snacks a prop space by Ebay Fashion and a beautiful white while with the hashtag #NYFW where you cold take pictures.

After that I went to a moschino Party on the Soho location. It was not as fancy but we did stayed there for half hour. After that we went and put  pants (literally) and went to have our first dinner at a restaurant. That was not even remotely good but we were so tired that we didn’t cared.

Next day woke up super early to go to the airport and that was the end of a very short full of activities and amazing trip to New York Fashion Week!

Make sure you also check out my youtube video about this trip. Also don’t miss he highlights on instagram where there is everything I posted.
