Hello everyone! Happy New Year! My blog today it’s about New Year’s goals.
Many of us write down or think of some goals for the year but how many of them stay past the 1st month? We get involved on our crazy, busy life and forget about them. So my wish for you is to continue them throughout the year. Here are some tips on how to maintain your goals the whole year.
BULLET POINTS
First you need to write them out, by bullet points or by number, you can do some year-long goals and specifically by month. If you don’t write them you don’t know where you are going, For example:
January:
*Enroll on a gym membership.
*Not eat sweets from Monday-Thursday/
*Play with each of my sons at least 1 hr a week by themselves (no tv, no cell, no distractions, just 1 on 1).
And so on, you continue month by month , if there is something like “I want to go to Greece in this year” you can find a magazine picture of Greece and glue it on your list. Be very specific, the most detail you have the more likely you will achieve it.
WHAT NEXT?
After your list is done you need to pin it on your vanity wall, that way you can see it every single day, and when you achieve a goal you can scratch it of, color it or mark it DONE. That way when you start achieving more and more you get more excited about the next ones.
Ohh and start small, write achievable goals, it’s better to do it slowly but surely and they build up like a snowball, for example if your goal is to loose weight its better to take 100 calories a day that will equal 36,500 calories a year than doing a crazy 3 day diet and then gain more after you finished it.
MAINTAINING YOUR GOAL
Another great way to maintain your goals is having them on your calendar, you can set up reminders throughout the month to remind you a self note of a specific goal. For example; if my goal in January is enroll on a gym, I will set my alarm every day around 9 that says “Are we members of a gym, yet?” and as soon as I achieve that goal I can erase that alarm, or an alarm around 6 pm every other day saying have you played with the kids?.
REVIEW YOUR PROCESS
And every 1st of the month you need to allow yourself 15 minutes to check your goals, and see if some of them have changed or if they continue the same, that way you can evolve with them as your priorities may change with time.
Happy Goal setting guys! Until next time!
