Getting everyone out the door in the morning and to school on time can be a challenge, to say the least. When there are multiple children who need to be ready on time, sometimes for different school start times, and you need to get yourself ready too, it’s not easy. You can feel that everyone and everything is moving a lot slower than it needs to, and you’re wasting a lot of time. If you find that you’re often running late or frustrated trying to corral everyone, you need to make a change. Try these tips for getting ready faster and speeding up the school run.

Be Ready the Night Before

Someone can’t find their left shoe. Someone else has mislaid their homework. Lunches still haven’t been put together. You can spend a lot of time in the morning finding things or getting things prepared. If you want to save some time in the morning, think about how you can get ready the night before. If it’s all ready to go in the morning, there will be much less rushing around. Get everyone involved in setting out their clothes, making breakfasts and lunches, and organizing their bags so they’re ready to go.

Get on Your Bikes (or Scooters!)

Not everyone is lucky enough to live close enough to school that you can walk there. But if you are, it can sometimes not feel so lucky. When the kids are dragging their feet and you have to hurry them along, you might wish you had just piled everyone into the car. For an alternative way to speed things up, consider getting to school by bike or giving everyone a speedy Evercross electric scooter. It can get everyone to school faster while still making sure they’re out in the fresh air and can get some exercise.

Remove Distractions

The kids getting distracted is a common problem when you’re trying to make it to school on time every morning. If their attention is drawn away by technology, you can use a pretty simple solution. Avoid access to any tech in the morning, such as TV or tablets, until they’re ready to go out the door. Not only can this prevent them from getting distracted, but it can also encourage them to get ready faster so that they can have some screen time. Other distractions, such as toys, can be put away in the mornings too.

Improve Independence

You can spend a lot of time in the morning doing things to get the kids out of the house. But if your children are school-aged, there’s a good chance they can get themselves ready without you having to do it for them. By giving them the responsibilities of getting dressed, brushing their teeth and coming down for breakfast without your help, you can focus on other things. You may still need to provide some encouragement and management of their tasks, but you’ll have more time for your own needs.

The school run can be slow, but there are ways to speed things up so everyone is at school on time.
