If you are planning on traveling with a young baby, you need to be prepared. You cannot control any delays at the airport or with the flight, but a baby will not understand that and will still want to be fed and have their diaper changed.
Don’t make the mistake of flying or traveling in any other way without being properly prepared or you and the baby will both end up being upset.
Make A List
As with most things you are preparing for it is good to start by making a list of the things you will need. Remember that you will not only be carrying baby’s stuff but also yours so pack with that on mind.
Think that the worst could happen and that you will be delayed, and then you will have enough of everything if that does happen.
PREPARE,PREPARE, PREPARE
Work on having enough food, diapers, and wipes for the duration of your journey plus 24 hours that way if there is any delay you will be covered.
If you are breastfeeding, you might want to take a cover-up blanket just for your own peace of mind, and you should have an extra blanket for the baby in case the delay stretches into the night and it gets chilly.
When they are a little older and have started to eat solids, pack some baby-friendly snacks such as Cheerios and puffs. A couple of small toys can also be useful to help keep them occupied when they are awake.
PACIFIER
If baby uses a pacifier bring a couple with you and take a bag for storing soiled clothing in.
You might need to put a clean baby diaper on the go so practice before.
However, many of the restrooms in airports have changing tables.
Prepare The Feeds
Does yout baby is being bottle fed? prepare the feeds before you leave and carry them in a cool bag. Airlines will not let you fly with liquids of more than 3 fluid ounces, but this rule does not apply to baby milk or formula. They just scan it through and you are good to go. Once you are in the air, the flight attendants can provide you with warm water to warm the milk up.
Take A Car Seat
If your child is under two years of age you do not have to pay for a seat for them. The safest way for baby to travel is on their car seat. If you want to be certain of being able to do this you have to pay for the seat. If the plane has some empty seats, the airline will let you use one of them anyway.
The alternative is to have a baby sling, as sometimes, as they are in a strange place, the baby feels safer being right next to you.
Baby comes first
Whatever you do, flying or traveling in any other way with a new baby takes preparation and courage. SO BE PATIENT.
